An international recall was announced in August 2010 as a result of data that revealed that many patients required further hip replacement surgery in a very short time frame. The following DePuy implants were recalled in August 2010: ASR XL Acetabular System and ASR Hip Resurfacing System.
Common compaints are as follows: continued pain and swelling, nerve, muscle and bone damage, cup loosening, difficulty walking, blood poisoning amongst other things. Many patients have had to undergo further surgery in order to have the recalled hip implant replaced.
Amy Bennett, Solicitor offers the following advice: “If anybody thinks they may have had one of the two recalled DePuy metal hip implants fitted (ASR XL Acetabular System and DePuy ASR Hip Resurfacing System) after 2003, they should seek legal advice immediately as they may be entitled to compensation for pain, suffering and financial loss sustained as a result of the recalled DePuy implant.”
